This collaboration began after KONAMI Digital Entertainment’s METAL GEAR series promotion team was deeply impressed by Mori Calliope’s powerful rap performance and her strong global influence.
Timed with the release of METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol.1, the project was created to introduce the appeal of the METAL GEAR series to newcomers—especially those who know the name but have never played. Mori Calliope accepted the offer, leading to a first-time co-production with acclaimed music producer and composer Chaki Zulu.
Reframing the METAL GEAR series through Mori Calliope’s perspective, the track blends her own worldview with the franchise’s identity. It samples the beloved in-game BGM “Encounter” and features iconic sound effects such as alert and call tones throughout, evoking nostalgia for long-time fans while serving as an inviting gateway for first-time listeners.
The lyrics also weave in numerous keywords and memorable lines that recall the stories and characters of the first three METAL GEAR SOLID titles, along with trilogy themes like “GENE, MEME, SCENE” and other signature series motifs—balancing respect for the originals with a fresh interpretation.
