This was a special event hosted by Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., held for one night only on March 21, 2024, at Roppongi Hills Arena, to promote the Formula E Tokyo E-Prix (held on March 30, 2024), the world's premier electric vehicle (EV) race, which was the first of its kind to be held in Japan. Within this event, a special stage featuring "VOICE CHARGE," an interactive device that converts fan cheers into electricity, was held.
NISSAN FORMULA E ROPPONGI CIRCUIT
One-Night-Only Special Circuit: A 110-meter-long oval-shaped special circuit appeared at Roppongi Hills Arena, showcasing a spectacular performance where Nissan's Formula E cars raced through an electric spectacle combining music and light. Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. Vice President Asako Hoshino, and special guest Mai Shiraishi appeared on stage. A performance by dance artist GANMI also added to the event's appeal.
VOICE CHARGE
This project converts the vibrations of human voices into electricity using a unique system. On stage, Governor Koike and Mai Shiraishi shouted their support for the team into the microphone and tried VOICE CHARGE. Coincidentally, both of them recorded a power generation of "23μW," a number related to Nissan, which greatly excited the audience. The collected electricity (and the passionate feelings of the fans) was delivered to the Nissan Formula E team drivers (including Oliver Rowland) competing in the main race.
Nissan, the only Japanese automobile manufacturer participating in Formula E, planned this project to widely disseminate a message about the exciting future that EVs bring and sustainable cities (ZEV adoption). A permanent "VOICE CHARGE" booth was also set up at "NISSAN CROSSING" in Ginza from March 7th to April 24th, 2024, where many fans experienced generating power through their support.
